Once you have your yacht and its in the water, should I expect to be forking out cash regularly with repairs? Or is this sport reasonably wallet friendly once you are under way. I'm guessing that could depend on the class of boat you sail too?

I am yet to buy a yacht as I am still researching!

Thanks

ps anyone know what boats the wmrmyc sails?

Hi Glenn
Unless you damage your boat in some way, there can be very few ongoing costs. Some of our club members seem to spend very little on their boats once they have set them up for racing. However, the sport is very addictive and many sailors are continually upgrading sails, buying more competitive boats etc. Some ongoing costs include recharging of batteries, fuel to attend venues and overnight accommodation at various title events (see I told you it was addictive).
Cheers

Thank you for your Email.

On the Maintanence Question it is just like most things . keep it clean , keep it oiled and keep the batterries charged. I know some skippers who religiously polish their boat each week. Its proberbly a good method for you can keep an eye on things, like anything happening to the hulll, sails etc you know about it first.Things to look for are "Black Wire" on batterries, cracking around hull. To name a few. I suggest you have a little book to note your maintanence in, to keep a check.
